As a nation of immigrants, identifying our¬†immigrant ancestors is a suitable goal for most Americans. Finding the first immigrant ancestor in my family was easy. My paternal great grandfather immigrated from England in 1854. My paternal grandmother’s family has deep roots in New England and Colonial America.

My mother’s family, on the other hand, is a story of unknown parentage, deceptions, secrets, and lies.
